Li Wenliang (chess player)
Li Wenliang (born April 21, 1967, in Harbin, Heilongjiang, China) is a Chinese chess player. He earned the title of International Master in 1994. As of February 2026, his FIDE rating is 2429, and his peak rating was 2511 in October 2001. He has been a veteran player and served as China’s Deputy National Team Manager in 2002.
He competed for China at the World Men's Team Chess Championship in 1993, playing 9 games (4 wins, 4 draws, 1 loss). Although the team finished 7th, Li won an individual gold medal for his performance on board 4. In 2008, he tied for first–fifth place in the Korea Open in Seoul, sharing the top spots with Yang Kaiqi, Salor Sitanggang, Jaan Ehlvest, and Utut Adianto. He plays for the Guangdong chess club in the China Chess League (CCL).
