Joanna Siedlecka
Joanna Siedlecka, born 24 February 1949 in Białystok, Poland, is a Polish writer and journalist. She studied at Warsaw University and is a member of the Polish Writers Association. Siedlecka has written ten books, including four collections of essays and six biographies, often about writers such as Witold Gombrowicz, Witkacy (Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz), and Jerzy Kosiński. She teaches at M. Wańkowicz College in Warsaw. In her biography The Ugly Black Bird, she presents a new view of Jerzy Kosiński’s life during the German occupation, challenging the commonly accepted version linked to his novel The Painted Bird.
