Leschea, born Schea Boatwright on January 27, 1971, in Brooklyn, is a contemporary R&B singer best known by her stage name Leschea (pronounced le-SHAY). She started singing at eight years old, with no formal training, and learned through school productions. She was also part of the group Masta Ace Incorporated.

In 1995 she sang background vocals on Masta Ace's Sittin' on Chrome, which helped her sign with Warner Bros. Records in 1996. Her debut album Rhythm & Beats came out in 1995 and was re-released on iTunes in 2005. The singles “How We Stay” and “Fulton St.” built her buzz, with “Fulton St.” spending seven weeks in the top 10 of New York City’s singles chart. Despite early attention, the album was released before strong promotion could take off, and it didn’t gain lasting traction. Her videos were popular on BET, and “How We Stay” got heavy NYC radio play while “Fulton St.” peaked at #44 on the Billboard R&B Singles chart. She was eventually released from Warner Bros due to marketing and promotion issues.

She married executive producer Masta Ace in 2001, and they have a daughter together.

Today she hosts The Leschea Show, an online radio program that won Mixcloud’s 2016 Online Radio Award for Best Online Talk Show, Culture. The show streams weekly on Periscope and Facebook Live.
