Florence Park is a city-owned public park in the Florence neighborhood of North Omaha, Nebraska. It sits at North 30th Street and State Street. Created in 1846 by the area’s early pioneers, it is the oldest park and the oldest original town square in Nebraska. At the park’s southern end, a Nebraska State Historical Marker tells the story of Winter Quarters, the 1840s settlement in the area. For many years, a large cottonwood tree in the park had a plaque noting that Brigham Young used it as a hitching post.
