Leonid Dovladbegyan
Leonid Dovladbegyan (born March 1, 1985, in Leningrad) is a Russian and Armenian entrepreneur, top manager, and venture capitalist.
He earned a master’s degree in Commercial Law from St. Petersburg University in 2008.
His career began in e-commerce. From 2012 to 2016 he worked at the DIY tools chain 220 Volt, rising from deputy department head to online-store director. As online-store director, he increased online sales tenfold and helped the store reach ninth place in Forbes’ 2014 list of Russia’s largest online stores. In 2015 he became first deputy general director, and the company started offering outsourcing services for DIY brands’ online stores.
In 2015 he also became co-owner of Mastergrad, one of the CIS’s largest construction forums. In 2016 he founded LED, a marketing agency focused on large-scale online sales events like Cyber Monday and Real Black Friday.
In 2017–2018 he served on the board of the Orteka retail chain and advised the company. In November 2018 he joined Perekrestok (owned by X5 Group) as director for strategy and e‑commerce, where he helped develop the Perekrestok.ru online grocery and expand distribution. He was among the first in Russia to use the dark-store format (a warehouse used to fulfill online orders).
In August 2020 the online store was rebranded to Vprok.ru Perekrestok. It later became its own unit within X5 Group, and he became CEO of the new online hypermarket, Vprok.ru Perekrestok. That year the group’s online grocery turnover grew significantly, and X5 Group became the leading online grocery provider in Russia for the first time in 13 years.
In 2021 he began transforming the platform into Russia’s first FMCG marketplace, aiming to build an ecosystem around food and related services. Revenue for Vprok.ru Perekrestok reached about 21.5 billion rubles in 2021, with more than 75,000 product items.
He left the CEO role in July 2022 as the company shifted its strategy and planned changes to its structure, which did not include a full de-merger or IPO at that time.
Investments outside Russia include buying into the Swedish hyperlocal grocery service Vembla in June 2021 (he joined its board) and investing in Bairro, a Portuguese delivery startup, in August 2021 (where he became chairman).
In 2022 there were reports that he planned to invest in food-tech startups in Armenia.
Awards and recognition include Best Executive at the Bolshoy Oborot E-Commerce Awards (2020) and Retail Leader of the Year by the Team Awards (December 2021). In 2020, the Vprok.ru Perekrestok mobile app won the Summer Tagline Awards for From Home: Best Mobile/AR/VR/IoT Project and topped the Runet Ranking in Trade and Services. In 2021, Vprok.ru Perekrestok was named Best Online Grocery Store at the Retailer of the Year Awards.
