Eldmire with Crakehill
Eldmire with Crakehill is a small civil parish in North Yorkshire, England. It has about 30 residents and no village, just scattered houses and farms, including the hamlets of Eldmire and Crakehill along the east bank of the River Swale. Crakehill is mentioned in the Domesday Book as Crecala. The two settlements were joined to the manor of Eldmire from the early 14th century and formed a township in the ancient parish of Topcliffe. They became a separate civil parish in 1866. From 1974 to 2023 the parish was part of Hambleton district and is now governed by the unitary North Yorkshire Council.
