Viliami Taulani
Viliami Taulani (born 17 January 1997) is a Tongan rugby union player who plays as a flanker for Harlequins in the Premiership. He is 191 cm tall and weighs 118 kg. He studied at Manurewa High School in Auckland, New Zealand, where he starred in the school rugby team and helped win the Auckland Championship in 2015; he also played rugby sevens.
After school he played for Patumahoe RFC and represented Counties Manukau at under-19, under-20 and development levels. In 2016 he joined the Chiefs’ development system and made his professional debut for Counties Manukau in the NPC on 18 August 2016 against North Harbour. He played a few NPC games in 2017 and 2018, and more in 2020.
In 2021 he joined the Chiefs for Super Rugby Aotearoa, making his debut on 1 May 2021 against the Blues and later appearing in the Trans-Tasman competition. In August 2021 he moved to Harlequins in England’s Premiership. He played 12 games in his first season, mainly as a back-up to Alex Dombrandt, and also played one game for London Scottish.
In 2023 he returned to Counties Manukau and played for the Steelers in the NPC.
Taulani began his Tonga international career in 2021. He earned his first cap on 3 July 2021 against New Zealand in Auckland and then played against Samoa and the Cook Islands in the lead-up to World Cup qualification.
