Lakefield is a coastal rural locality in the Shire of Cook, Queensland, Australia, on the east coast of Cape York Peninsula. It covers about 8,386 square kilometres and had a population of 21 people at the 2021 census (16 in 2016 and 184 in 2011). It is located about 101 km north of Laura, 169 km northwest of Cooktown, and 394 km north-northwest of Cairns.

Geography: The Normanby, North Kennedy, Hann and Annie Rivers flow through Lakefield toward the Coral Sea, creating many lakes. The northern boundary reaches offshore to several islands. The area includes parts of Rinyirru National Park (south and west) and Cape Melville National Park (northeast). Most islands are within the Flinders Group National Park. Much of the land is protected and undeveloped, with a small grazing area east of the Normanby River mouth.

Access: Lakefield Road runs from southeast to northwest, connecting to Laura via Endeavour Battle Camp Road and to Cooktown via the Peninsula Developmental Road.

Other notes: The locality has some heritage-listed sites. There are no schools in Lakefield. The nearest government primary school is Laura State School in Laura, which may be too far for residents in the north and west of Lakefield; there are no nearby secondary schools, so options include distance education or boarding school.
