Beauty and the Beat is Edan’s second studio album, released March 29, 2005 on Lewis Recordings. The 34-minute hip hop record blends psychedelic elements and is produced by Edan. It features guest appearances from Insight, Percee P, Mr. Lif, and Dagha.

The album reached number 40 on the UK Independent Albums chart and number 37 on the UK R&B Albums chart. It received strong critical praise, with a Metacritic score of 85/100 based on 18 reviews, signaling universal acclaim. Critics highlighted Edan’s sharp lyrics, distinctive style, and originality. In 2013, NME listed it at 392 on its 500 Greatest Albums of All Time, and in 2015, Fact placed it at 30 on the 100 Best Indie Hip-Hop Records of All Time.

Singles include “I See Colours” (2004) and “Fumbling Over Words That Rhyme” / “Beauty” (2005). The album cover reimagines the 1968 single Io Per Lei by I Camaleonti, with the faces and logo rearranged over the original image.

Edan’s previous album was Primitive Plus (2002), and Beauty and the Beat precedes Echo Party (2009).
