Lagoon 65
The Lagoon 65, also known as the Lagoon Sixty 5, is a French sailing catamaran designed for private cruising and charter. It was designed by Van Peteghem/Lauriot-Prevost, with exterior styling by Patrick le Quément and interior design by Nauta Design. The model first appeared in 2019 and remained in production, continuing to be built in France by Lagoon Catamaran.
This boat is the sailing version of Lagoon’s 67 powercat. It uses vacuum-infused polyester fiberglass construction with teak decks. The hulls are solid fiberglass below the waterline, while the areas above waterline and the deck use a balsa core.
The Lagoon 65 has a length overall of about 67.4 feet (20.55 m) and a beam of about 32.8 feet (10.00 m). Its draft is 5.09 feet (1.55 m) with twin keels, and it displaces around 40,000 kg (88,185 lb). The rig is a fractional sloop with a deck-stepped mast, two sets of swept diamond spreaders, an aluminum mast, and a carbon fiber boom with stainless steel rigging; a carbon fiber mast is optional.
Sails include a mainsail of about 1,835 square feet and a jib/genoa of about 1,054 square feet, giving an upwind sail area of roughly 2,889 square feet.
Power comes from twin Volvo diesel engines (D3-150 or D4-175) with folding propellers for easy docking and handling. Fuel capacity is about 1,300 liters (344 US gallons) and fresh water capacity is about 1,000 liters (264 US gallons).
Accommodations include four or five cabins, sleeping eight to ten people, with each cabin having a private head and shower. The main salon features an L-shaped seating area, and the galley is on the port side with an island, stove, refrigerator, freezer and sink. A navigation station is forward on the port side, and the boat can be steered from there with an autopilot. Additional seating is provided in the aft cockpit, on the flying bridge, and in front of the coach house.
For downwind sailing, a Code 0 sail can be added. The designer emphasizes ease of use and long-range comfort, aiming for a yacht that can cruise far and wide with seaworthiness.
In reviews, the Sixty 5 is described as a luxury yacht built on a production line, combining high-end features with offshore durability. It’s common for owners to hire a captain, chef and mate, since many Lagoon 65s are privately owned and used for extended voyages.
