Kumkapı railway station
Kumkapı is a railway station in Istanbul, located in the Fatih district along Kennedy Boulevard, about 3.8 kilometers from Sirkeci Terminal. It opened in 1872, built by the Rumelia Railway when the line was extended into the city center. The station has one platform and two tracks, is at ground level, and is accessible for passengers. It was electrified in 1955.
The station was closed in 2013 for Marmaray works and stayed closed for reconstruction. It reopened on 26 February 2024 as part of the new transport routes: the T6 tram line from Sirkeci to Kazlıçeşme and the U3 rail line from Sirkeci to Kazlıçeşme. Before the closure, suburban trains ran between Yenikapı and Halkalı. Kumkapı is owned by TCDD and operated by TCDD Taşımacılık, with bus connections (İETT BN1).
