1905 in Canada
Two new provinces joined the country: Alberta and Saskatchewan. They were created from parts of the Northwest Territories and officially became provinces on September 1, 1905. This expanded Canada’s western provinces and supported the settlement and farming of the prairie region.
The federal government, led by Prime Minister Wilfrid Laurier, continued to govern the country as it grew and incorporated these new provinces.
