Kim Jang-hoon is a South Korean singer known for rock-ballad songs. He was born in Seoul on August 14, 1963, and dropped out of school to work as a cafe DJ before making his debut in 1991. His first album, mainly written and arranged by Cho Dongik, included songs like “On a Sunny Day,” “Always Between You and I,” and “To the Tomorrow.” His second album came out in 1993, followed by the third album, “I Just Sang My Song.”

In 2011, he released the single “Breakups Are So Like Me” featuring Heechul of Super Junior. Because Heechul was in military service, other Super Junior members filled in during some performances on TV shows.

Kim is a familiar face on TV and has long been popular on university campuses, with fans ranging from teenagers to people in their 60s. He has released 22 albums, including remix collections, digital singles, and soundtracks, and has performed at more than 1,000 concerts, including 15 solo concerts in Korea and China.

In 2012 he released his 10th full-length album, the first in six years, and the music video for the title track “Nothing” featured Paris Hilton. In 2014 he released a new single, “HERO,” with the girl group Crayon Pop.

Known as the “Donation Angel,” Kim has donated more than 10 billion won to various causes over about a decade. During a 2012 Los Angeles concert, he received a letter signed by President Barack Obama informing him that he had won the President’s Volunteer Service Award.

Kim Jang-hoon has had a long and active career in music and entertainment, spanning decades and many performances plus charitable work.
