Khorixas Constituency

Khorixas Constituency is an electoral area in Namibia’s Kunene Region. The constituency office is in Khorixas town. It covers about 21,328 square kilometers and had a population of 10,906 in 2004; by 2020 there were 8,788 registered voters. Fransfontein is also part of this constituency. The name comes from the Khoekhoe word khori, meaning the mustard bush, a water-loving plant found in the area. Landmarks include the Ugab Terraces, a petrified forest, and Twyfelfontein rock engravings. Politically, it has often supported opposition parties, especially the United Democratic Front (UDF). Notable election results: 1992 – Simson Tjongarero (UDF) won; 2004 – ǃGobs (UDF) won; 2015 – Elias ǃAro Xoagub (SWAPO) won; 2020 – ǃGobs (UDF) won against SWAPO's Xoagub.
