Kevin Goetz is an American entertainment researcher, entrepreneur, and producer who founded Screen Engine. He grew up in East Brunswick, New Jersey, and earned a BFA in theater acting from Rutgers’ Mason Gross School of the Arts in 1984. He began his career at the National Research Group, then led the motion picture group at OTX.

In 2010, Goetz started Screen Engine, which provides screening research and audience analysis for films. In 2014, Screen Engine merged with ASI Entertainment to form Screen Engine/ASI, expanding into television, gaming, and digital content. In 2018, The Wicks Group bought a 50% stake in the company. Screen Engine/ASI grew further with acquisitions including ticktBox (2019), Tapestry Research (2021), and Coherency (2023).

Goetz produced the film Wild Iris (2001), starring Laura Linney and Gena Rowlands. He authored Audience•ology: How Moviegoers Shape the Films We Love (Simon & Schuster, 2021), co-written with Darlene Hayman. His second book, How to Score in Hollywood, co-written with Bob Levin, is due in November 2025. He hosts the podcast Don't Kill the Messenger, where he interviews filmmakers and industry figures.

In 2001, the Los Angeles Times Magazine named him among the 100 most powerful and influential people in Southern California. In February 2024, he received the Power of Cinema Award from the American Cinematheque. He is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the Television Academy, and the Producers Guild of America. He lives in Beverly Hills, California.
