Bataan's 3rd congressional district
Bataan’s 3rd congressional district is one of three districts in the province of Bataan. It was created in 2021 by Republic Act No. 11153 and first sent a representative to the House of Representatives in 2022.
Geography and people
- The district covers the western part of Bataan: Bagac, Dinalupihan, Mariveles, and Morong.
- Area: about 696.82 square kilometers.
- Population: about 334,847 (2020).
- Electorate: about 223,643 (2025).
Representation
- Current representative: Maria Angela Garcia of the National Unity Party (NUP). She has served since 2022 and is the district’s first representative.
History
- The district was created on June 24, 2021, through Republic Act No. 11153, which reapportioned Bataan into three districts.
Elections
- 2022: Maria Angela Garcia (NUP) won with 102,488 votes (58.25%), defeating Angel Peliglorio Jr. (Independent) who had 73,465 votes (41.75%). Total votes: 175,953; registered voters: 223,643.
- 2025: Maria Angela Garcia (NUP) won re-election with 144,517 votes (87.51%) against Ernesto Manalo (Independent) with 20,627 votes (12.49%). Total votes: 165,144; registered voters: 223,643; turnout was 83.09%.
