The Kaiwara River is a 20-kilometre river in the northern part of New Zealand’s South Island. It flows east at first, then turns southwest through a valley in the Lowry Peaks Range between Cheviot and Culverden, and is a tributary of the Hurunui River. The outflow into the Hurunui is about 17 kilometres southwest of Cheviot, in the Canterbury region.
