El aparecido
El aparecido (The appeared), also translated as The Ghost, is a Chilean song written and recorded by Víctor Jara for his 1967 album Víctor Jara. The lyrics tell about a man persecuted for his political beliefs. The figure in the song is often linked to Che Guevara, the Argentine revolutionary. The Chilean Communist Party criticized Jara, arguing that socialism should be built through democratic means, not through armed guerrillas.
