Pencoed College started in 1925 to help the sons and daughters of farmers learn about farming. Its main building is the old Tregroes House, and it was first called Pencoed College of Agriculture, Horticulture and Environmental Studies, known locally as The Demonstration Farm. In the 1970s it was renamed the Mid Glamorgan College of Agriculture and Horticulture, and in 1996 it became an Associate of the Royal Agricultural Society for its work in land-based education. Today the college is part of Bridgend College. The Pencoed Campus still offers many land-based courses as well as sport and recreation courses.
