KCVR (AM)
KCVR (1570 AM) is a commercial radio station licensed to Lodi, California, serving the Stockton metropolitan area. It broadcasts Punjabi language programming as Punjabi Radio USA and is owned by Punjabi American Media, LLC. The station first went on the air in 1946 and originally operated as a daytime-only station with 500 watts; it now runs 5,000 watts by day and 500 watts at night using a directional antenna. The transmitter is on Alpine Road in Lodi. KCVR’s programming is simulcast on KIID 1470 AM in Sacramento, KWRU 1300 AM in Fresno, KLHC 1350 AM in Bakersfield, and KOBO 1450 AM in Yuba City, with the daytime signal reaching parts of the Sacramento metro area as well as Stockton. The call letters stand for Central Valley Radio. In 2015, KCVR switched to Spanish contemporary hit radio, simulcasting KCVR-FM 98.9. On August 6, 2020, Punjabi American Media acquired KCVR as part of a network of six Central California AM stations broadcasting Punjabi programming.
