Jumaa Aweso
Jumaa Aweso is a Tanzanian politician from the CCM party. He has been the Member of Parliament for Pangani in the Tanga Region since 2015. He is the Minister of Water and Irrigation, a role he has held since December 5, 2020. Before becoming minister, he served as Deputy Minister for Water and Irrigation from October 2015 to May 2020.
Background and education
Jumaa Aweso was born on March 22, 1985, in Pangani District, Tanga Region. He finished secondary school at Mwambao, Bagamoyo, and Pugu, then earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Dar es Salaam University in 2013. He later obtained a Master of Arts from Open University of Tanzania.
Personal life
He is married to Zainab Abdallah and they have two children.
Political career
Aweso entered politics a few years after finishing school and was elected as MP for Pangani in 2015. He held various positions within the CCM party before becoming Deputy Minister for Water and Irrigation in 2015, and in 2020 he was promoted to the role of Minister of Water and Irrigation.
