Blue on Blue: An Insider's Story of Good Cops Catching Bad Cops is a 2017 nonfiction book by Charles Campisi and Gordon Dillow. Campisi, who led the NYPD Internal Affairs Bureau, shares his police career and cases where the bureau investigated officers who stole drugs, used excessive force, or broke the law. The book covers the Abner Louima case and the shooting of Amadou Diallo, and it discusses the blue wall of silence that can protect corrupt officers. It also explains the Bureau's Police Impersonation Group, which seeks out people who pretend to be police officers. The authors describe how fake badges and full uniforms can be used to commit crimes such as rape and extortion against individuals and communities, often targeting vulnerable immigrant communities. The book ends with concerns that the New York City Police Department could be vulnerable to sympathizers or sleeper agents tied to terrorist groups like ISIS or al-Qaeda. The Wall Street Journal praised Campisi's storytelling, and other reviews were generally favorable. It was published in February 2017 by Scribner.
