Josh Hawkinson (born June 23, 1995) is an American-born Japanese professional basketball player for Sun Rockers Shibuya in the B.League. He plays center and power forward, standing 6 ft 10 in tall and weighing about 240 lb. He became a Japanese citizen in 2023 and plays for the Japanese national team.

Early life and college
Hawkinson was born in Seattle and grew up in Shoreline, Washington. He attended Shorewood High School, where he posted strong scoring, rebounding, and shot-blocking numbers. He played college basketball at Washington State University from 2013 to 2017. He rose from a limited role as a freshman to a star by his sophomore year, setting school records for rebounds and double-doubles and earning Pac-12 honors. He finished his career as Washington State’s all-time leader in rebounds and double-doubles, and he earned several academic and athletic awards, including Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Professional career
Hawkinson went undrafted in 2017 and began his pro career in Japan with the Toyotsu Fighting Eagles Nagoya (2017–2020). He then played for the Shinshu Brave Warriors (2020–2023). In 2023, he signed with Sun Rockers Shibuya and joined them in 2023–present.

National team
Naturalized as a Japanese citizen in 2023, Hawkinson has played for Japan at the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup and at the 2024 Olympics. He comes from a basketball family—his parents played college basketball, and he has a sister named Carlyn.
