Jorge Alberto Daponte (5 June 1923 – 9 March 1963) was an Argentine racing driver from Buenos Aires. He competed in Formula One in the early 1950s with a private Maserati, entering three World Championship races (two starts) between 1953 and 1954, with his first entry at the 1953 Indianapolis 500 and his last at the 1954 Italian Grand Prix. He scored no championship points and also took part in several non-Championship races. Daponte died in Buenos Aires at age 39; the circumstances of his death are unclear, with some reports suggesting suicide.
