Mount Donkin

Mount Donkin is a 2,940-metre (9,646-foot) peak in Glacier National Park, British Columbia, Canada. It’s part of the Selkirk Mountains in the Dawson Range, with Michel Peak on Mount Dawson about 1.9 kilometres to the east as the nearest higher point. The summit rises about 1,840 metres (6,037 feet) above the Incomappleux River over a distance of 2.5 kilometres, showing its steep climb. Donkin Glacier sits on the northeast slope.

The mountain was named for William Frederick Donkin, a fellow Alpine Club member who died in 1888 in the Caucasus. The first ascent occurred in 1890 by Harold Ward Topham, and the name was officially adopted in 1901. Mount Donkin has a subarctic climate with very cold winters. Precipitation drains into the Incomappleux River system. Coordinates: 51.1497°N, 117.4703°W.
