Jokadu

Jokadu is one of six districts in the North Bank Division of the Gambia. In 2013, about 22,132 people lived there. Many families in Jokadu are very poor. A project is building a health clinic in the village of Bakang. The nearest medical help now is a four-hour journey away by donkey cart, which means many people die before they can get treatment. The Jokadu District Development Fund is helping fund the clinic, which will be staffed by young people who left the village to study and will return to live and work in Jokadu.
