Joe Bryan
Joseph Edward Bryan (born 17 September 1993) is an English footballer who plays left-back for Millwall. He can also operate as a left midfielder or wing-back. Born and raised in Bristol, he came through Bristol City's academy and turned professional in 2011. He spent short loan spells at Bath City and Plymouth Argyle before making his Bristol City debut in March 2012. He scored his first Bristol City goal in the Bristol derby against Bristol Rovers and his first league goal against Crawley Town. In 2015 he signed a contract to stay with Bristol City.
During the 2016–17 season, Bryan established himself as one of the division’s best left-backs. He helped Bristol City reach the EFL Cup semi-finals in 2017–18, scoring in the win over Crystal Palace and featuring in the victory over Manchester United in the quarter-finals.
In August 2018, Bryan joined Fulham for about £6 million and later helped them win promotion to the Premier League in 2020, scoring twice in extra time in the Championship playoff final at Wembley, including a long-range free kick.
In August 2022, he went on loan to Nice in France. On 1 July 2023, he joined Millwall on a free transfer.
Internationally, Bryan was selected for Scotland Under-21s in October 2012 but did not play due to a concussion. He remains eligible for Scotland through his parents but has not appeared for them.
His father, Alan Bryan, is a cardiac surgeon, and his sister, Lucy Bryan, is a pole vaulter. He has made over 200 appearances for Bristol City and has also played for Bath City, Plymouth Argyle, Fulham, Nice, and Millwall. (As of January 2026, he has 78 appearances and 3 goals for Millwall.)
