Russell Robartes, FRS (1671–1719), was an English politician who sat in Parliament from 1693 to 1713. He was the second son of Robert Robartes, Viscount Bodmin, and Sarah Bodvel, and the younger brother of Charles Robartes, 2nd Earl of Radnor. He attended a private London school and went to St John’s College, Cambridge in 1689. He volunteered in the army in Flanders during the 1693 campaign and was elected Member of Parliament for Bodmin later that year, serving until 1702. From 1702 to 1708 he sat for Lostwithiel, and from 1708 to 1713 he again represented Bodmin. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1703. In 1710 he was appointed Teller of the Exchequer, taking over from his relative Francis Robartes, but he lost the post in 1714 after moving to Paris and not returning promptly. He died in 1719 and was buried in Chelsea, London. He had married Lady Mary, daughter of Henry Booth, 1st Earl of Warrington, and they had two sons and two daughters. Their eldest son, Henry, became the 3rd Earl of Radnor in 1723.
