Japanese cargo ship Mimasaka Maru (1944)

Mimasaka Maru was a Japanese cargo ship built during World War II for Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK). Built at Ishikawajima Shipbuilding & Engineering Co. in Tokyo, it was laid down in 1943 as part of the Wartime Standard Type B program and was one of seven ships built by Tokyo Ishikawajima. The ship was launched on January 9, 1944, and completed on February 6, 1944. On April 9, 1944, it was torpedoed and sunk by the American submarine USS Seahorse near the Mariana Islands. Mimasaka Maru had a gross tonnage of 4,667, was 112 meters long, with a beam of 15.8 meters and a draft of 9.1 meters, and could reach speeds of about 11.5 knots. Its call sign was JNVS.
