Janeeth Rodrigo
Janeeth Rodrigo (born 9 December 1987) is a Sri Lankan entrepreneur and digital media professional known for shaping Sri Lanka’s online content scene. He grew up in Moratuwa and studied at S. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia. He earned a BA in Social Sciences from the Open University of Sri Lanka and later completed an MBA from the Australian Institute of Business in 2014.
Rodrigo began his career at TV Derana, where he rose to become General Manager of Derana Macroentertainment, the network’s digital arm. In 2017, he launched IdeaHell, Sri Lanka’s first YouTube multi-channel network (MCN), creating a space for creators to learn, collaborate and monetize. He also led Pulse.lk, a lifestyle and entertainment platform started in 2015, and helped develop Mogo Studios, a digital animation and gaming initiative.
Under his leadership, IdeaHell grew to manage more than 60 YouTube channels and was officially recognized by YouTube as Sri Lanka’s MCN. He has won several awards, including a 2010 Silver Award at SLIM Brand Excellence for Ada Derana and the 2016 Global Understanding for Sustainable Development Award for Ada Derana. In 2024, Pulse.lk won the Social Media Channel of the Year at the New Generation Asia Awards. Rodrigo resigned from Derana at the end of 2024.
In January 2025, he became Executive Director of Digital Turtles, a Sri Lanka–Singapore digital advocacy group focused on internet safety and civic engagement. The organization helped create Cyber Hero, a 3D mobile game about online safety launched in 2024 with U.S. Embassy support. He also started the Creator Incubator and remains active as a speaker, mentor and columnist on digital media. Rodrigo is an alumnus of the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP).
