Swimming at the 1984 Summer Olympics – Women's 4 × 100 metre medley relay
At the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, the women’s 4 × 100 metre medley relay was held on August 3 at the McDonald’s Olympic Swim Stadium. Fifty-two swimmers from 13 nations competed. The United States won the gold medal with a time of 4:08.34. Gold medals went to the United States team that swam in the final—Theresa Andrews, Tracy Caulkins, Mary T. Meagher and Nancy Hogshead—with four additional U.S. swimmers (Betsy Mitchell, Susan Rapp, Jenna Johnson and Carrie Steinseifer) taking part in the heats. Silver medals went to West Germany—Svenja Schlicht, Ute Hasse, Ina Beyermann and Karin Seick. Bronze medals went to Canada—Reema Abdo, Anne Ottenbrite, Michelle MacPherson and Pamela Rai. The eight fastest teams from the heats advanced to the final.
