Georg Schierscher
Georg Schierscher (born 27 January 1942 in Schaan) is a Liechtenstein mathematician, teacher and former politician. He served in the Landtag for Oberland from 1989 to 1993 as a member of the Progressive Citizens' Party. He studied mathematics at Freiburg and earned his diploma in 1969. From 1970 to 2002 he taught mathematics, computer science and physics at Liechtensteinisches Gymnasium. He was a judge at the Liechtenstein state court from 1977 to 1985. In 2003 he opposed the prince’s constitutional changes. He has published many works in mathematics and computer science, and started a mathematics exhibition that has been shown in several cities and at the Liechtenstein National Museum; since 2020 it has been kept in Schaan. He married Herlinde Marxer on 11 April 1970 and they have four children, including Manuela Haldner-Schierscher, who has served in the Landtag since 2021.
