The James Spear House is a historic brick home on Charleston’s Battery in Charleston, South Carolina. James Spear bought the lot in 1860 for $5,000, and the sale records show no improvements at that time. By 1861, Spear was living in the house.

The building is a three-story Italianate-style house, a popular look in Charleston before the Civil War. It has a two-story front porch on the south side, with a third story that is open to the air. Behind the house is a two-story service building that was part of the property and was connected to the house sometime after 1882. The house remains privately owned.
