Josef Moser (March 26, 1861 – March 3, 1944) was an Austrian priest who became a passionate entomologist. He trained for the priesthood in Linz and served as a priest in Zell. While still a seminarian, he joined the Association for Natural History and, in 1901, the Upper Austrian Museum Association. In his spare time he built a huge collection of insects—35,310 beetles and 13,269 butterflies—the largest of its kind in Austria, with specimens from around the world. After his death, his collection and his extensive library were acquired by the Upper Austrian Provincial Museum.
