James F. Albaugh (born May 31, 1950) is a retired aerospace executive who led major Boeing business units. Raised in Richland, Washington, he graduated from Richland High School in 1968, where he was classmates with future Secretary of Defense James Mattis. He earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and physics from Willamette University in 1972 and a master’s degree in civil engineering from Columbia University in 1975.

Albaugh joined Boeing in 1975 and later led Boeing Integrated Defense Systems as president and CEO from 2002 to 2009. From September 1, 2009, to October 1, 2012, he was president and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes and served as executive vice president of The Boeing Company. He retired from Boeing on October 1, 2012.

After Boeing, Albaugh was a senior advisor to The Blackstone Group from December 2012 to July 2016. He joined the Harris Corporation board of directors on September 1, 2016. He has received the Howard Hughes Memorial Award and was elected to the National Academy of Engineering in 2011 for his leadership in defense and commercial aerospace. In 2005, he earned about $1.5 million, making him one of the highest-paid managers in the defense sector.
