Izzudheen, Crown Prince of the Maldives (Hassan Izzudheen ibn Sultan Muhammad Shamsuddine Iskandar) was born on 11 July 1901, the son of Sultan Muhammad Shamsuddeen III and his wife Sitti. He was named Crown Prince on 8 February 1931. He studied at the Royal College Colombo in Ceylon (Sri Lanka) and, after several years there, returned in 1920 to live at Muliaage in Male. Muliaage became famous for music and dances that he organized for entertainment. However, he faced a smear campaign from his uncle Abdul Majeed Rannabandeyri Kilegefaanu and cousin Hassan Fareed, and in 1934 he was banished to the southern island of Fuvahmulah. He died there on 25 September 1940 and was buried at the Fuvahmulah Friday Mosque on 27 September. He had two children, Fareeda Izzudheen and Saeeda Izzudheen. He belonged to the Huraa dynasty and was a Muslim.
