Ivan Almeida
Ivan Almeida (born May 10, 1989) is a Cape Verdean basketball player who currently plays for GTK Gliwice in the Polish Basketball League. He is 1.98 m tall and usually plays as a shooting guard or small forward. He also plays for the Cape Verde national team, and his brother Joel is also a pro basketball player.
Over his career, Almeida has played for many clubs across Europe and beyond, including Benfica, Sporting CP, Anwil Włocławek (where he won Polish league titles in 2018 and 2019 and was MVP in 2018), Kalev/Cramo, Nymburk, Universo Treviso, Ironi Nahariya and Al Ahli Tripoli. In January 2026 he joined GTK Gliwice.
Almeida has also won three Portuguese League titles (2022–2024) and two Portuguese Cups (2013, 2023). He earned BAL honors in 2025 and 2026, and co-founded the BAL team Kriol Star, helping them reach the playoffs. He played for Cape Verde at AfroBasket 2015, leading his team in assists, steals and blocks. In 2025 he played with Al Ahli Tripoli at the FIBA Intercontinental Cup, where the team won bronze—the first African club to medal there.
