Kouka, Banwa
Kouka, also known as Kuko, Kouko, or Kouba, is a town in western Burkina Faso. It is the capital of Kouka Department in Banwa Province, Boucle du Mouhoun region. The town lies at about 11.9°N, 4.33°W, and sits around 310 meters above sea level. In 2019, about 17,286 people lived there. Kouka is mainly inhabited by the Bobo-Oulé people. In the early 1700s, it was besieged for three months by Ousman-Oule, the grandson of Sekou Watara, and later joined the Kong Empire.
