Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB) is the main professional group for architects in Bangladesh. It was started in Dhaka on February 25, 1972, by Muzharul Islam, after the Bangladesh Liberation War, to help rebuild the country and develop its architecture.

IAB works with government bodies and universities to improve the architecture profession, offers educational services, and promotes high-quality design. It also ensures that new buildings in the country are designed by its member architects. The IAB Centre is in Dhaka’s Sher-E-Bangla Nagar.

Membership includes more than 5,000 licensed architects. There are three levels of membership based on experience, plus a student member category for architecture students.

Leadership includes a President, Vice-Presidents, a General Secretary, and other officers. Current leaders include President Ar. Dr. Abu Sayeed Mostaque Ahmed and General Secretary Ar. Dr. Masud Ur Rashid, among others.

The IAB accredits Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) programs at several Bangladeshi universities.
