Kathadi S. Ramamurthy, born Sundaresan Ramamurthy on 30 April 1938 in Kumbakonam, then in Tanjore District (now Thanjavur district), British India, is an Indian actor, director, writer and dubbing artist. He is best known for his comedy in Tamil cinema, theatre and television. He studied in Madras and graduated from Vivekananda College in 1958. From his college days he loved drama, and his plays were popular and won many awards. Through his theatre troupe, he gave early opportunities to many future stars, including Cho Ramaswamy, Visu, Delhi Ganesh and Crazy Mohan. After playing a cartoonist named Kathadi in Cho Ramaswamy’s play If I Get It, he became widely known as Kathadi Ramamurthy.
