Inside Moves (album)
Inside Moves is a 1984 studio album by American jazz saxophonist Grover Washington Jr. It was recorded March–June 1984 at Rosebud Recording in New York City and released by Elektra. The album runs 38:52 and was produced by Grover Washington Jr. and Ralph MacDonald.
In Washington’s discography, it sits after The Best Is Yet to Come (1982) and before Togethering (1985).
Critical reception was mixed. AllMusic’s Scott Yanow described the album as one of Washington’s weaker efforts, noting forgettable material, no hits, and too much emphasis on vocals—especially Jon Lucien, who sings on five tracks. He also criticized the background vocalists. Conversely, Ken Franckling of United Press International praised it as a funky jazz-R&B fusion and highlighted Washington’s soulful saxophone, particularly on the title track. Some tracks feature string arrangements, such as on Watching You Watching Me.
