Sinopieris
Sinopieris is a small group of butterflies in the family Pieridae. It includes six species found in parts of China (Gansu, Shaanxi, Sichuan, Tibet, Yunnan, and Nanshan) and Nepal. All six species were originally placed in Pieris and later in Pontia. They are distinguished from Pieris mainly by the venation of the forewing near the tip, though this is not always reliable. Most Sinopieris species have a grey or blackish band in the post-discal area of the forewings, whereas Pieris typically has black post-discal spots on the forewings and no bands on the hindwings. Notable species include Sinopieris davidis, S. dubernardi, and S. venata.
