Charles Delporte (wrestler)
Charles Eugène Delporte (21 March 1914 – 18 June 1940) was a French wrestler from Lille. He competed in the men's freestyle lightweight event at the 1936 Summer Olympics. During World War II, he served in the French Navy as a matelot fusilier (seaman rifleman). He was killed by shrapnel on 18 June 1940 at Saint-Sauveur-de-Pierrepont, France, while stationed at coastal artillery positions in Cherbourg during the Battle of France.
