Infinitum Nihil
Infinitum Nihil is an American private film production company based in Los Angeles, founded in 2004 by Johnny Depp and run by his sister Christi Dembrowski, who serves as president. The name means “Nothing infinite” in Latin. The company develops projects in which Depp often acts and/or produces.
Among its projects, The Rum Diary (2011) stars Depp as Paul Kemp with a screenplay by Bruce Robinson, and Dark Shadows (2012) is a gothic film directed by Tim Burton in which Depp also starred and produced. Over the years, Depp and Infinitum Nihil have pursued various potential projects, including a Paul Revere biopic and The Night Stalker for Disney, and a Dr. Seuss biopic produced with Illumination Entertainment.
In 2012, the company announced a film adaptation of Damien Echols’ memoir about his time on death row, to be co-produced by Depp, Dembrowski, Echols, and his wife Lorri Davis. That same year, Depp launched a publishing imprint under Infinitum Nihil with HarperCollins, aimed at publishing thoughtful works. The imprint released House of Earth by Woody Guthrie in 2013, followed by titles such as The Unraveled Tales of Bob Dylan (2015) and Narcisa (Jonathan Shaw).
In 2017, Infinitum Nihil planned a TV series based on The Secret World IP and signed a deal with IM Global. At the San Sebastián International Film Festival in 2021, Depp announced IN.2 Film, a sister company to Infinitum Nihil, focused on original, stage and literature–based scripts for film, stage, and TV. IN.2 promotes artistic freedom and aims to move beyond formulaic blockbusters, with projects including collaborations with Julien Temple planned for 2022–2023 and serving as a path to new kinds of storytelling.
In May 2023, Jeanne du Barry, co-produced by IN.2 Film and starring Maïwenn and Depp, opened the Cannes Film Festival and was released in France on the same day. Later that year, Depp directed Modì, Three Days on the Wing of Madness, produced by IN.2; the cast includes Riccardo Scamarcio, Bruno Gouery, and Al Pacino.
