Richard Longman
Richard Arthur Longman (born 18 March 1946 in Calcutta, India) is a British former racing driver and motorsport preparation expert. He competed mainly in the British Saloon Car Championship (BSCC), later known as the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC), from 1970 and again from 1976 to 1986, driving for teams such as Downton Engineering, Longman Racing and Patrick Motorsport (the British Leyland–backed works team).
Over his career, Longman started 106 races, recording 1 overall win (with 48 class wins) and 48 fastest laps. He won the BSCC/BTCC titles in 1978 and 1979, driving a Mini 1275 GT for Patrick Motorsport. In 1980 he moved to a Class C Ford Fiesta, and in 1984 he was Class C champion in a Ford Escort Mk3 RS1600i.
Outside racing, Longman has run racing-related businesses and owns property in the Bahamas and in the New Forest, Hampshire.
