Ihor Dotsenko
Ihor Dotsenko (born July 29, 1974) is a Ukrainian-American former professional soccer forward who spent most of his career in the United States. Born in Kyiv, he moved to the United States to attend Wake Forest University, where he played from 1994 to 1997. He stands 6 feet 2 inches tall.
Dotsenko began his pro career in 1998 with the Richmond Kickers of the USISL and spent much of his career in the USL with teams including Lehigh Valley Steam, Raleigh Capital Express, Atlanta Silverbacks, and multiple stints with the Richmond Kickers. He had a brief taste of Major League Soccer in 2000 with the Kansas City Wizards, appearing in two league games. He also had loan spells abroad with KFC Uerdingen 05 in Germany and spent time in indoor soccer, including a stint with the Philadelphia KiXX.
In addition to his outdoor play, Dotsenko played indoor soccer for the Harrisburg Heat and other teams during his career. He retired from playing in 2007.
After retiring as a player, Dotsenko moved into coaching and youth development with the Richmond Kickers organization. He became assistant director of coaching for the Richmond Kickers Youth Soccer Club North Region in 2002, was named Technical Director in 2004, and in 2006 returned to the field as a player and assistant coach for the Richmond Kickers. In 2007 he served as head coach of Richmond Kickers Future, the club’s fourth-division Premier Development League team, for that season.
