Larson Ice Center
Larson Ice Center is a two-rink indoor arena in Brookings, South Dakota. It is located at 934 32nd Avenue and is owned and operated by the City of Brookings Parks and Recreation Department.
The arena opened in March 2002 after breaking ground in 2001. The construction cost was $7 million (about $12.2 million in 2024 dollars).
Facility and capacity: The main rink (Red) seats about 2,000 spectators, and the second rink (Blue) seats about 600. The ice surface measures 200 feet by 85 feet. The building includes ten locker rooms with showers and bathrooms, large heated viewing areas, upper and lower level lobbies, and an upper-level concession area.
Tenants: From 2012 to 2019, it was home to the South Dakota State Jackrabbits club ice hockey team and the Brookings Rangers. It also hosted the Brookings Blizzard, a Tier II junior team in the North American Hockey League, during 2012–2019.
