Icheri Sheher (Baku Metro)
Icherisheher (Inner City) is a Baku Metro station on the Red Line. It is located on Istiglaliyyat Street 2, near the Four Seasons Hotel in Baku, Azerbaijan. The station opened on 6 November 1967, with regular traffic starting on 25 November 1967. It was called Baki Soveti until 2007, when it was renamed Icherisheher.
From July 2008 to December 2008, the station underwent renovation and reopened on 29 December 2008. The entrance has a pyramid-shaped design made of metal and glass, about 14 meters high, matching the height of the Old City fortress. In 2009, the old escalators were replaced with Viktoriya escalators. The middle hall and platform walls feature 16 pictures of ancient Baku made in France. A fragment of the Old City fortress walls with the word “İçərişəhər” is placed at the back. The station has a single exit on Istiglaliyyat Street.
Line and connections: Icherisheher is on the Red Line (Line 1) of the Baku Metro. It has two platforms, with one in use. There are connections to bus lines 6, 10, 18, 31, 37, 65, 77, and a future connection to the Yellow Line (205).
