Plawsworth
Plawsworth is a village in County Durham, England. It lies just east of Sacriston, on the A167 road between Durham and Chester-le-Street. It is part of the civil parish of Kimblesworth and Plawsworth, within the Durham unitary authority.
In 1961, the parish had a population of 1,570. The name Plawsworth is thought to come from Old English, meaning either "games enclosure" (from plega, "play, sport," plus worth, "enclosure") or from a personal name Plega.
Historically, Plawsworth was a township in the parish of Chester-le-Street. It became its own civil parish in 1866, but on 1 April 1986 it was merged into the parish of Kimblesworth and Plawsworth.
