Stalin's third government
Stalin's third government was the 13th cabinet of the Soviet Union. It was formed on March 12, 1950, and lasted until March 15, 1953, ending with Stalin’s death. Joseph Stalin led the government as president of the Council of Ministers. Nikolai Shvernik was head of state, and Vyacheslav Molotov was deputy head of government. The cabinet had 56 ministers and was formed by the All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks). It sat in the Third Convocation of the Supreme Soviet and came from the 1950 legislative election. It was preceded by Stalin’s second government and followed by Malenkov’s first government.
